About UTM Fastpitch

UTM Fastpitch will enter its 10th year of operation in August 2025. What was initially one U16 team in South Western Ontario, has grown into one of the larger girls softball organizations in the province of Ontario. Our roots date back to 2013 when our first website and blog was created, that provided information on tournaments and teams during the softball season in Ontario. We provided popular updates like "Power Rankings" and "Player Spotlights" to raise awareness about the awesome sport of softball. The name of our first website was called "Up the Middle", hence the origination of the name UTM Fastpitch.

UTM's first team qualified and earned a medal at the 2016 Ontario Summer Games held in Mississauga, ON. In our early years a number of outstanding UTM athletes would go on to participate in Canadian Eastern/National events as pick-up players. A recognition for their hard work, and talent on the diamond. As our organization grew stronger so did the competitive level of some of our teams. UTM Fastpitch has now earned many provincial PWSA medals at U15, U17, U19 and Intermediate. Our organization has also earned medals at Canadian Nationals multiple times.

In 2025:

The UTM Bandits won PWSA U17 Tier 1 Provincial Gold
UTM 2K7 South-West won PWSA U19 Tier 1 Provincial Gold
UTM Morriston won PWSA Intermediate Women's Provincial Gold

In 2024:

UTM 2K7 South-West won PWSA U17 Tier 1 Provincial Gold
UTM Impact won PWSA U17 Tier 2 Gold
UTM Morriston won PWSA U19 Tier 2 Provincial Gold

In 2023:

The UTM Bandits won PWSA U15 Tier 1 Provincial Gold
The UTM Bandits earned a medal at the U15 Softball Canada Championships
UTM Halton & UTM Morriston, both earned provincial medals at PWSA U19 Tier 2 Championships

Other historical championship teams have included UTM Revolution 2K2 (Drover), and UTM Revolution 2K4 (Shackell), UTM Eastern Ontario (Crosby)

UTM Tournaments

Each summer UTM is also one of the leaders at hosting PWSA member tournaments. Events such as the UTM Early Bird, UTM Big Show, UTM Rock the Park, UTM Kick the Dust, UTM Teddy Bear Festival have become annual events, that are some of the first events to sell out when registration opens. This past year we also added the UTM Make An Impact Tournament, that offered teams a chance to play for money for the charity of choice. We are always looking for bigger and better things when it comes to tournament hosting.

In 2025 we achieved the following:

Our 1st ever event in the City of Hamilton (UTM Rock the Park)
Our largest Early Bird event (held across 8 diamonds opening weekend)
Our largest event ever was the UTM Big Show, this summer attended by 46 teams from Ontario and Quebec
Our first Make an Impact Event

UTM tournaments fundraise for our affiliate teams, and our community partners in the OUS, OCAA and other groups in need across Ontario. If your team/association is looking for a great way to raise money we invite you to convene and host a UTM event in 2026!
