Tournament Rules

The following rules apply to the Early Bird Weekend May 4 & 5

Coin Flip for Home/Away
Bat Roster. unlimited substitution
Pinch Runner Allowed for Pitcher at any time (last available)
Pinch Runner Allowed for the Catcher with 2 out (last available)
All games are No New Inning after 1:20
There is no drop dead rule, however please see the next bullet point
If the time threshold is reached and the home team is batting (with the lead) the game is over as time expires
Call-Ups Allowed, must clear player with PWSA coordinator & UTM Fastpitch
Live Streaming of games, must be cleared by the umpires and both teams prior to the start of the game

Additional Rules for Fall Play

7 run cap in place for all innings (point of event is to play with the new roster, not win at all costs)
No open innings
Ties are an acceptable result
There are no mercy rules, just the run cap per inning.

Ejections:

Should a player or coach receive a game ejection by the umpire or UIC they will automatically be suspended for their next game of the weekend
A second objection, will result in coach being banned from future 2024 UTM events
Should a fan be thrown out of a game, that fan is banned for the balance of the weekend (no exceptions)

UTM Fastpitch is an incorporated non-profit minor sports group with the ability to operate across Canada. UTM (Up the Middle) was created in 2016 to offer new opportunities to young women seeking to play the sport of softball at a high level. Since our launch we have fielded over 25 teams, and developed partner programs in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. All UTM teams are expected to adhere to the governance provided by Softball Canada, and any provincial governing body where they are located. UTM provides tournaments in Ontario offering various age groups the chance to experience a great weekend of tournament ball.
