This division is a one horse race... Halton is running away from the pack. Other teams are all pretty close and beat anyone on any given day (Oakville & LaSalle have traded victories, Guelph always seems to come up one run short in their competitive match ups, etc...) '06 teams are having good seasons but the size, strength, and speed at this age against '05 are just a touch to much for them; time will cure this and all things will level out in Novice.
Very astute comments by "John"...Halton 05 a great club but several teams capable of knocking them off on a given day. Sometimes the pressure of being #1 all year can be hard to bear. I agree that The junior teams are a touch behind because of strength, size and speed but you can see the early favourites for next year. Nice post John.
Let's update those Power Rankings with the Provincial results.
I have seen the Hawks 05 girls play. To make a statement that there are several teams capable of knocking them off on any given day is a little silly. From what I've heard these girls would have to have a pretty off day to be beaten. I agree that the pressure to be #1 can be hard to bear but sadly I don't think that there is a comparable team.
You may call my comment "silly" whoever you are, but I've been watching/playing/coaching ball for 40+ years and no game/team is a lock. Baseball can be funny that way, especially now that the double-knockout has been eliminated and it's a one game win or go home scenario on Sunday. You are aware of course that Halton 05 have lost some games this year? I'm not against them; I love their team. I'm trying to provide a realistic and objective opinion on the squirt division, not a "silly" one. One might argue that saying you've "seen them play" and that you've "heard " they would be tough to beat is a bit of a contradiction - maybe even a little "silly".
